Stay in shape while you shop! Join Tanger's Fitness Club beginning January 1st 2010, sponsored by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center's Senior Circle. These Club members check into the office and walk at Tanger Outlet Center and are rewarded with Tanger gift cards for achieving incremental levels (based on hours logged). Meetings are held at Tanger several times yearly with guest speakers addressing timely topics relating to health and wellness.

The City of Orange Beach is offering guided eco-tours along the nationally recognized Hugh Branyon Backcountry Trail. During the 2-hour golf cart tour, individuals learn about the the area’s pristine woodlands and natural habitats.

Dinosaurs Downtown will feature 10 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, a dinosaur photo opportunity and a fossil dig where young children can excavate for their very own “fossils.”
The exhibit will feature many educational opportunities, including how robots and animatronics work, the study of different eating habits and predatory environments and how fossils are found and tested.

Beginning January 19 running six weeks 10am -12pm Talented local artist Tommy Vogel will introduce you to drawing with pastels. This pastel class with artist will focus on technique, color application and composition. Students will complete a picture in each lesson. Take this fun class. Stop by the Arts Center to see some of Tommy's works on display.

Six weeks Course.
Joanne Hall from Arkansas will be teaching a special six week oil painting class beginning January 23thrd. Study with this marvelous artist and learn the special techniques of "plein air" painting with oils. Joanne will be teaching "plein air" techniques that allow the artist to complete a painting on site.

April is National Poetry Month. Help us celebrate!
The Orange Beach Public Library and Thomas B. Norton Libraries are sponsoring an Island wide poetry contest for students in grades K-12. Friends of the Library are donating eighteen cash prizes and co-sponsoring the project. All Gulf Shores and Orange Beach students are encouraged to enter. Any poetic form will be accepted.
Entry forms are available at your school or public library. The deadline is March 13, 2010. For more information call Ms. Patsy or Ms. Jennifer at the Orange Beach Public Library or any librarian at the Thomas B. Norton Public Library.

Tuesday Nights 6:00pm - 8:00pm Instructor: Maya Blume-Cantrell
Beginning February 2 running four weeks. Join us for fun in clay. Study with this wonderful potter the techniques of hand building. We will be utilizing hand building techniques, including coil, slab, and pinch. Functional and nonfunctional projects will be explored. Stoneware clay will be provided in the cost of the class. This course starts on the first Tuesday of February and runs four weeks. The fee includes one 25lb. bag of clay, glazes and firings. This class is excellent for beginners as well as those who are coming back into the love of clay. You will learn the basic hand-building techniques such as coil, pinch and slab work, glazing and electric kiln firing.

Thursdays 9:00am - 11:30pm Beginning February 4 running six weeks. Mr. Willows' beginners watercolor class provides students with a basic understanding of the skills and ideas of watercolor painting. Each student receives individual attention. The skills and ideas focused on include: basic color theory, brush technique, perspective, preliminary sketching & composition.
