NASCAR fans, start your engines! Join us September 5th as we welcome five Mobile International Speedway drivers and their cars to the Exploreum for the grand opening of NASCAR: The IMAX Experience! Back by popular demand, this film will light up the IMAX screen this fall as fans experience America's favorite spectator sport. Learn the history of NASCAR, told by some of it's most admired drivers, and then go full-throttle with a look at the sport today. NASCAR: The IMAX Experience is narrated by Golden-Globe winner Kiefer Sutherland. This film is showing September 5th through November 25th.

Join Bob the Builder and his Can-Do Crew to help get the job done this fall in Mobile. The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center is hosting the Bob the Builder - Project: Build It traveling exhibit from October 17, 2009 through January 3, 2010. Sponsored locally by Heritage Homes and Lowe's, this 2,000 square foot exhibit replicates elements from Bob the Builder's world, inspiring teamwork, inviting inspiration and bringing environmentally friendly building themes to life for children and their families. For a limited time, parents can celebrate their child's birthday with a Heritage Homes Construction Party. Themes will be available for both boys and girls, and individuals should call 251.208.6879 to check for available dates. Area Lowe's Home Improvement stores will also be hosting special "Do It Yourself" workshops at the Exploreum once a month.

Cascading Chrysanthemum Bloom Out!

Hundreds of colorful four-foot long cascades will be displayed on bridges and balconies, in baskets and containers throughout the Gardens. Guests will also enjoy the columns of mums and the thousands of mums in the flower beds with the fall colors of yellow, bronze, red, orange and white. The Great Lawn’s dramatic border will be a feast for the eyes. Bellingrath’s mum display is one of the grandest in the country and all the cascades are grown at Bellingrath.

Primarily considered a traditionalist, Pamela's focus is in two-dimensional art which encapsulates using multiple media, combining techniques and varying surfaces. Saturdays, 10:00am - 12:00pm. This popular and educational class will be offered twice in November. Nov 14 and again on Nov 21. This is a hands-on class designed to give you the necessary information and skill needed to understand and become proficient with your digital camera. We will learn about the camera controls and work on overcoming common problems such as shutter lag and blurred images. Each participant should bring a digital camera, charged batteries, a camera memory card, and the camera manual (if available).
