About the Golf Association
Gulf Shores Golf Association (GSGA) was founded in 1995 to promote the Alabama Gulf Coast as a unique golf destination and a great alternative to other “beach” or “trail” golf vacations. The group assists potential guests locate lodging and golf options for various size groups.
Trivia Anyone?
Gulf Shores Golf Association showcases 189 holes of championship-caliber golf at 9 courses.
Leading golf course designers—like Arnold Palmer, Jerry Pate, Earl Stone, Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge—have produced some of the area’s most stunning and challenging courses.
Variety makes this destination unique as we offer scenic coastlines, wetland preserves, rolling hills and links style golf.
Arnold Palmer’s only Alabama projects are located on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Lured to the area by the Craft family who were originally sod and turf farmers, Palmer designed his first “Signature Series” course at Cotton Creek at Craft Farms. A second Palmer-designed course—Cypress Bend at Craft Farms—was added later. Lost Key Golf Club in neighboring Perdido Key, Fla. is also a Palmer “Signature Series” course.
Lost Key was the first Florida golf course to become certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary.
Different from other golfing destinations, our selection of courses is unparalleled and centrally located. Designed by golfing legends, these courses are situated near the beach, accommodations, shopping and other attractions.
Golfing on the Gulf is a great value, especially in the fall when rates are not peaking and the seasonal weather is refreshing. Enjoy lush green courses, Southern hospitality and a mild climate, making golf a year-round activity.
The 19th hole is closer than you think since most of our beach-front lodging is usually within a short drive to tasty seafood and steak restaurants. Savor the taste of fresh gulf seafood (or anything your appetite desires) at casual dining eateries to full-service restaurants.
And the Award Goes To…
In 2013, Golfweek Magazine honored Kiva Dunes as the No. 2 public course in Alabama and also placed this Jerry Pate-designed facility at number 87 on its list of Best Resort Courses for the year. Previous honors for Kiva Dunes include being ranked No. 3 in GOLF Magazine’s biennial state-by-state rankings of America’s public access courses in July of 2012 and being named to Golf Digest’s “America’s Top 75 Golf Resorts.”
