Always the first Sunday in May. What once began as a small local event has grown into a festival featuring world famous seafood and excitement for everyone. The festival begins on Friday night with a traditional Vietnamese Dance and continues through the weekend with arts and crafts, children's activities, gumbo cook-off, bingo, land and boat parades and lots of music. The Blessing of the Fleet by the Most Rev. Thomas J. Rodi, Archbishop of Mobile will take place immediately following the 2pm Land Parade. The blessing: “May God in Heaven fulfill abundantly the prayers which are pronounced over you and your boats and equipment on the occasion of the Blessing of the Fleet. God bless your going out and coming in; The Lord be with you at home and on the water. May he accompany you when you start on your many journeys: May he fill your nets abundantly as a reward for your labor; And may he bring you all safely in, when you turn your boats homeward to shore.... Amen."
Free to public.
