'S'mores on the Shore' Set for May 24 2012
A sugar-white confection to match the Gulf Coast's sugar-white sand will be waiting for you and your family on May 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Public Beach. It's time for the city's annual S'mores on the Shore, an event loved by both locals and
visitors to the area.
The family-friendly event is free and will feature bonfires on the beach, live music, s'mores and lots of fun. Sugarcane Jane will perform on the sand and guests are invited to kick off their flip flops and dance to their mixture of smooth bluegrass/acoustic roots music with tight harmonies. The Baldwin County-based band has opened for Randy Travis and performed many times in Nashville, Tenn.
If gooey marshmallows and melted chocolate leave you thirsty, there will be lemonade and snow cone vendors onsite to wet your whistle, or bring your own cooler with water and sodas. If you want to spread out, bring chairs or beach blankets so you can relax and enjoy an evening of great music, fun activities, family and friends.
This laid-back event is one of two events the City of Gulf Shores holds each year. S'mores on the Shore is the spring event and the Back to School Bash will be held Aug. 10 in the same laid-back, beach fashion. The event will be held towards the west tower on the main public beach area in Gulf Shores.
