Flock Together for the Alabama Coastal BirdFest
The Alabama Coastal BirdFest has been welcoming visitors to the state from all over the U.S. and Canada since 2004. Birdwatching enthusiasts enjoy coming for fall migration viewing because this event offers numerous opportunities for birding and spending time in nature.
This year the 15th Annual John L. Borom Alabama Coastal BirdFest: A Birding and Nature Festival is slated for Oct. 3-6 and presents the perfect chance to see birds, alligators, wildflowers, dolphins and other wildlife while learning about their habitats. Workshops will be held at 5 Rivers Delta Center and BirdFest showcasing sites will be located all around both Baldwin and Mobile counties.
The event boasts more than 30 guided tours on land and water, plus workshops, speakers and a free, family-friendly Bird and Conservation Expo. The Expo takes place at the Halstead Amphitheater on the grounds of Coastal Alabama Community College (formerly Faulkner State Community College) in downtown Fairhope and includes exhibits, a raptor show, a snake show and activities for children.
The educational festival promotes ecotourism in the state and puts together an outstanding itinerary for event attendees. Choose from exciting activities such as small boat tours, a cruise on the Weeks Bay Explorer, a hummingbird workshop, kayaking, sunset cruises, wildlife refuge visits, photography classes, migration presentations and so much more!
