Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

Gulf State Park Golf - Refuge Golf Course

DESCRIPTION

The Refuge Golf Course at Gulf State Park provides golfers a unique opportunity. Playing a championship golf course inside the confines of a state park not far from the beach is pretty cool. Golfers get to play an 18-hole championship layout designed by one of the best in the business from the South, Earl Stone. The beauty of the natural scenery and wildlife along the golf course provides an exceptional experience not available everywhere. You can only find something like that on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Birds of all kinds and an alligator or two are just some of the wildlife found along the fairways lined by live oaks, palms and beautiful azaleas.

The course opened in 1974 and has stood the test of time. The Refuge measures 6,593 from the tips with a par of 72. There are the standard amenities at the Refuge: top-flight landscaping around the course, a practice range, putting green and pro shop. The popular Refuge Grill is also available for golfers, pre and post-round. Golf isn’t the only thing offered at the Gulf State Park. There’s a campground, cabins, a nature center and a fishing pier close by. It’s a golf-plus stop in the Gulf Shores area.
