The HOLE Story: Rock Creek's Hole #2
Just a short drive from Gulf Shores, you'll find Rock Creek Golf Course. Set in picturesque Fairhope, this Earl Stone-designed course offers a playable layout for golfers of all skill levels. Rock Creek is an 18-hole course that stretches more than 6,900 yards. Long hitters, especially, enjoy playing the course. The championship course's signature hole is Hole No. 2. This hole will test a golfer's strategy and accuracy, which will make the difference between a bogey and a birdie.
How to Play the Hole This dogleg-right par 4 is Rock Creek's number-one handicap hole. Hit fairway wood or long iron off the elevated tee some 75 yards above the landing area. The 175- yard second shot is a forced, uphill carry over a large wetland to a guarded green with a 30-foot-high bulkhead backdrop. If you're playing Rock Creek while on vacation in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, don't worry about bringing your clubs along. You can rent Callaway Clubs for just $35. You can also upgrade to a VIP golf cart for just $10 in addition to the normal cart fee. The VIP carts feature comfort seating, Bluetooth wireless speaker, USB port and a cooler stocked with ice and water. Once you've worked up an appetite and have finished your 18 holes - or perhaps to kickstart your day - stop in the onsite restaurant for breakfast, lunch or Sunday brunch.
