What to Do When Your Tournament is Rained Out
Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
From an athlete's viewpoint, there are few things worse than a tournament rain-out. All the preparation, training and hard work feels as though it's in vain until the tournament is rescheduled. However, when a sporting event is rained out on the Alabama Gulf Coast, there's a silver lining to the rain cloud. You don't have to stay stuck inside a hotel room on a rainy day. There's plenty to do to keep the blues at bay and enjoy your break from the ballpark.
Start with lunch or dinner at The Hangout. A meal at The Hangout isn’t just about eating, it’s about the experience. With limbo contests and live music, dinner becomes an event. LuLu’s and Tacky Jacks are also fun spots to hang out on a rainy day. Take your dinner on the covered decks and watch the boats go by. (Insider Tip: If you’re at Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach, be sure to peek over the railing to see all the fish congregating below. They are waiting for a little piece of bread from you!)
A beach trip, whether for a sporting event or vacation, isn’t complete without a big cone of ice cream. Enjoy a double scoop at Matt’s Homemade Alabama Ice Cream. Made locally at Old Dutch Creamery in Mobile, it’s a must-have treat during a Gulf Shores and Orange Beach vacation.
