10 Fun Family Activities in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
At the top of everyone’s planning-for-vacation list comes the question—how can I entertain everyone in the family from toddlers to teens?
This list will help make this year’s vacation planning easy with our 10 fun family activities in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach.
1.) Ziplining is an exciting adventure that will get your group up and moving for adrenaline-pumping fun. The Wharf has a great course—The Hummingbird Zipline—with more than 6,000 feet of flying excitement on two-hour guided tours soaring some 115 feet above the ground. Enjoy stunning views of pristine coastal wetlands at speeds of 30 mph! While this is a great family activity, it’s for ages 10 and up with a weight requirement between 70 and 250 pounds. Participants must also be able to climb several flights of stairs on each of the seven towers as well as lifting 15 pounds. Each person (or guardian) must sign a waiver.
2.) Ditch the beach chairs and have a ball building sandcastles with Sand Castle University! All ages and skill levels are welcome to this unique experience that helps everyone become an expert in this beach pastime. Sand castle University will provide all the equipment and expertise needed and every class includes a free time-lapse video of your group’s activity.
3.) The Track Recreation Center in Gulf Shores is a staple for many vacationing families, because there is fun for all ages! Thrill rides like the Skycoaster and Spinning Coaster will delight the tweens and teens while mom and dad will be content for toddler fun with family go-karts, miniature golf, bumper boats and cars, Kids Country rides and so much more! Test your skills on the multi-level Wild Woody go-kart track where drivers race up three and a half stories and circle back down again ending with an exciting drop!
4.) Biking is perfect for the whole family! Rent cycles (or bring your own) and even get an adult bike with a baby seat on the back if needed. Hit the trails at places like Gulf State Park where the views are as amazing as the exercise.
5.) The Ferris Wheel at The Wharf is a fun thrill for mom and dad, teens, tweens and even toddlers. Get a bird’s eye view of the area from atop one of the largest Ferris Wheels in the southeast.
