Imagine eating Thanksgiving dinner on the balcony of a gorgeous beach resort laughing with family and friends and celebrating togetherness and wellness together on the scenic trails at Gulf State Park. What more could you want?

Did you know the holidays are a great time to visit Gulf Shores and Orange Beach? The weather is mild, the beaches are less crowded and the fresh air encompasses a mixture of sea-salt and sunshine! Hello, holiday vacation! November is also when the Vacasa Coastal Half Marathon takes place and is the kick-off race to the Run the Beach Series

The race is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and includes an option to participate in a 5k or 1-mile run/walk making it a great race for the whole family. It welcomes all skill levels, and the route travels along the beautiful Gulf State Park Backcountry Trail system for an epic outdoor experience.

Stay in one of the many condos or beach houses that are minutes away from the starting line. Your family will get to enjoy a little exercise after your full Thanksgiving meal. Many of the local restaurants offer pre-cooked meals and are open for dine-in on Thanksgiving Day. There are also family-friendly events and boutique shopping at The Wharf, or you can shop at The Tanger Outlets on Black Friday.

With so much to see and do, you need to spend your holiday at the beach! Get ready to dip your toes in the sand. Happy Thanksgiving!
