Whether it's a parade, concert or play that puts the holiday zing in your step, find it here on the Alabama Gulf Coast. For many, that zing comes from an annual tradition that just gets keep getting brighter: Bellingrath Gardens and Home's Magic Christmas in Lights featuring more than 3 million twinkling lights on 1,000 set pieces.

Travel a few miles north on Alabama Highway 59 to Foley for its annual Christmas in the Park on Dec. 4 for carol-singing, cocoa-sipping, the lighting of the Christmas tree and a visit from Santa Claus. Be in Foley again on Dec. 5 for a fun time featuring games, obstacles, story-telling and a lot of snow.

Make a play date and attend one of the performances of “A Christmas Story” at South Baldwin Community Theatre. Shows begin Dec. 1 and continue through Dec. 9 with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m.
