The Wharf Uncorked Wine & Culinary Event
For the third year, more than 100 labels of wine, chef demonstrations, Chef Showdown and the Grand Tasting will take place Sept. 15-17 during The Wharf Uncorked Wine & Culinary Event. More than 400 competitors will vie for $300,000 in prizes. In 2015, the event raised more than $14,000 for Make-A-Wish Alabama. Tickets are available online.
5th Annual Alabama Festival of Flavor 2016
Just a short drive from the beach in Foley, you’ll find the Alabama Festival of Flavor in full swing on Oct. 8. Admission to the festival is free; however, there is a VIP Tasting Experience for $25. Foodie Fix tickets are also available. Local chefs will prepare unique dishes, and brewers from around the state will be on hand with craft beer.
45th Annual National Shrimp Festival
It’s packed with live music by national, regional and local artists, as well as hundreds of pounds of fresh Gulf shrimp. This year’s festival will be held Oct. 13-16. Admission is free.
9th Annual Oyster Cook-Off at The Hangout
Each year, the Oyster Cook-Off gets bigger and better! Celebrating Gulf Coast oysters, this year’s event, slated for Nov. 4-6, will feature celebrity chefs, as well as more than 60 beers from 25 craft brewers. Entry is free and tasting tickets are $2 each or $30 for a book of 20 tickets.
2016 World Food Championships
For the first time ever, the World Food Championships will bring the Ultimate Food Fight to Orange Beach at The Wharf. More than 400 teams from 20 countries and 45 states will compete Nov. 8-15 for part of the $350,000 prize purse. Competition categories include dessert, bacon, sandwich, burger and more. Tickets to the Tasting Village are $5 each.
