Fly through the eye of a hurricane with “Hurricane Hunters” and our interactive display. This local history museum tells the stories of this coastal town, its people, their lives and their livelihood. You can see a variety of permanent exhibits and special exhibits. Seasonal events and films as well as adult and youth programs are offered throughout the year. The museum’s home is a beach house that dates to before World War II and was originally located on West Beach. Admission is free.

The Fort Mims historic site offers an amazing educational experience about its significant role in the history of Alabama and our nation. The site commemorates the lives of those lost 200 years ago during the Creek Indian war. The annual commemoration and living history weekend is held the last weekend in August. This event is a look at the daily life of early settlers and how their lives intermingled with the Creek Indians during the early 1800's, long before Alabama became a state.

Fort Morgan is a Third System masonry fort built between 1819 and 1833. Standing guard where the bay meets the Gulf of Mexico, the fort played a significant role in the Battle of Mobile Bay in August 1864. Used intermittently through the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II, the site showcases the evolution of seacoast fortifications and adaptations. The site also has nature areas, gift shop and a boat launch. Whatever your reason for visiting, make sure Fort Morgan is a part of your visit to Alabama's beautiful Gulf Coast!
