Pickleball Courts
in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
If you’ve visited a park or recreation center recently, you’ll know that pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports right now. All across the country, people of all ages and skill levels are picking up this fun activity as a hobby. This popular sport has reached our beaches, too, and our area has several outdoor and indoor public courts for players to use. Pack your paddles, so you can play a few rounds at these spots while on our shores!

Gulf Shores Sportsplex
The Gulf Shores Sportsplex is a convenient spot to play a few games while on vacation. Its 12 public courts are lighted, free to use, and open every day of the week from sunrise until 10 pm. These popular courts host open play games on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 8-10 am and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 pm.

One Club Gulf Shores
You can get your pickleball on day or night at One Club. The courts in this community are open to the public. Guests just need to sign in at the Pro Shop and can even reserve a court in advance. One Club also has weekly leagues, seasonal tournaments and socials, and monthly clinics so that you can meet other pickleball enthusiasts.

OWA
A quick drive to nearby Foley will lead you to OWA, home to an entertainment district, theme park, and the area’s first indoor pickleball center. These courts are open 24/7 and feature lockers, seating, and a pro shop where you can pick up paddles. Memberships are required to play at the center, but open play is available every Sunday from 1-5 pm for $10.

Gulf Shores Cultural Center
The Gulf Shores Cultural Center offers three indoor acrylic courts, perfect for a game on a rainy day. A $10 daily fee is required for non-members and includes all amenities at the center. Keep in mind that the Cultural Center is closed during the summer and on holidays.

lodging with Pickleball Courts
Several lodging options in the area are equipped with pickleball courts for guests to use, so you can play a few games without ever leaving your accommodation. Pack your paddles if you’re staying at Beach Club Resort, Gulf Shores Surf & Racquet Club, and Turquoise Place. Campgrounds in the area with courts include, Gulf State Park Campground, Sun Outdoors, and Gulf Shores RV Resort.

Best Times of Day to Play Pickleball
Mornings and evenings are the best times to play pickleball outdoors on Alabama’s Beaches. This allows players to avoid the hotter temperatures of mid-day. However, several of the courses in the area are lighted, so a late-night game is an option for players who like to get in a few games before bed.

Pickleball Tournaments on Alabama’s Beaches
OWA and One Club both host pickleball tournaments throughout the year. These events are a great way to meet other players and test your skills, so be sure to regularly check their websites for upcoming dates. We hope to see you on the court soon!
