Intro to Oil Painting With Ying Johnson

At The MMofA Museum School, we believe that learning never stops—and neither does creativity. Our continued learning programs for adults are designed to inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and build community through hands-on artmaking. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or rediscovering a forgotten passion, you don’t need to be an artist to enjoy the creative process.

This four-week course will include the basic process of approaching oil painting, including surfaces to paint on, grounds, and mediums. Students will learn the potential of a limited palette and how to create their desired color. Materials are provided during class.
