Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with The Museum of Loxley!

The Museum of Loxley was awarded an America 250AL Semi-quincentennial Community Grant to support our project for a commemorative marker recognizing Loxley’s L & N Railroad Depot.
To honor this special project and America’s 250th Anniversary, The Museum of Loxley is hosting a presentation ceremony and celebration for this commemorative marker with an open house of Loxley Farm Center immediately following!

Be a part of history during this America 250AL celebration with guest speakers, Mayor Richard Teal and Alabama State Representative Donna Givens. The Star-Spangled Banner will be sung by American Royal Miss pageant representative and Loxley 6th grader Tala Raczkiewicz.

Immediately following the America 250AL ceremony, Loxley Farm Center will be open for viewing. Loxley Farm Center was built in 1965 by Rube Childress and was operated as a potato shed. Paul Childress Jr. later purchased the building from Rube Childress. During this time, it was known as Loxley Farm Center, and Purina Feed was sold there. In the mid 1970’s, Charles Cooper purchased the building and sold Pioneer Seed and all types of feed. The City of Loxley purchased the building in 2022. Loxley Farm Center now serves as a meeting place for area civic organizations and an additional display space for The Museum of Loxley’s artifacts.
