Serving Up Championship Events on Alabama’s Beaches
Alabama’s Beaches Sports & Events was formed in 2005 as the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission as a partnership between the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, Gulf State Park, and the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach with the goal of bringing quality, year-round sporting events to the area.
In 2007, the organization became a department within the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism and promoted as Alabama’s Beaches).
Beginning in early 2021, AB Sports & Events expanded its services to include recruiting and hosting leisure events within our destination. Applying our experience with planning and hosting sports events positions us well to serve major leisure event planners. The relationships we’ve developed with local partners and our knowledge of the destination and its facilities allow us to promote the area during the offseason, grow existing events, and attract new events, such as festivals and cultural and culinary events. With this transition, our name has changed from Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission to Gulf Shores | Orange Beach Sports & Events, and now to Alabama’s Beaches Sports & Events.
