Kid Birthdays

Besides celebrating your children's birthday by building sand castles in the sugar-white sand and jumping the turquoise waves, there's a wide-variety of other activities that will have them begging to come back again next year.

Listen to your children's exclamations of amazement and wonder at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo when they get up-close-and-personal with a real-life kangaroo, sloth and lemur during an animal encounter. You will enjoy seeing your kid's face light up with joy when they interact with the more than 500 animals.

Spend a day at Gulf State Park where you can hike, bike, fish and view nature. You might spy an alligator basking in the sun or a white-tailed deer among the park's 6,000 acres of pristine coastline and wildlife refuge. Stroll or cycle on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail which includes more than 27 miles of paved, winding scenic paths. The state park is also a fisherman's dream-come-true with more than 900 acres of scenic freshwater lakes and the second largest pier in the Gulf.

If your children are rambunctious, take them to The Track Recreation Center for kiddie rides, bumper cars and boats, go-karts, miniature golf and more. Or for some tumbling and bouncing action, visit The Factory in Gulf Shores. It's so much more than meets the eye, with batting cages, foam pits, trampoline dodgeball, trampoline basketball and arcade games. Your children will be worn out from all the bouncing fun and other activities.

Hop on a banana boat and hang on for the ride of a lifetime or become a pirate for a day on a pirate ship cruise. Or take a relaxing tour of the back bays in search of dolphins. Your experienced crew can tell you about the history of the area and will point out interesting sites, maybe even alligators, deer or unique coastal birds.
