5 Gulf Coast Steaks You Have to Eat to Believe
The Alabama Gulf Coast is known for superb seafood, but that’s not the only type of food our restaurants can prepare and plate to perfection. There are great burgers, pastas, salads, and more crafted with culinary finesse in kitchens across the area. Of course, you can’t have a full menu without a selection of juicy steaks - and you can find some steaks that are write-home-about-worthy in our little seafood village. If you want to add some turf to your surf, check out these five steaks you have to eat to believe.

1. The Flora-Bama Ribeye
Sink your fork into 14 ounces of hand-cut, certified Angus beef at the famous Flora-Bama Yacht Club. These thick, delicious steaks are seared to perfection and served with a heaping pile of Yukon Gold potatoes that are almost as succulent as the steak itself. While you’re chewing, treat the rest of your senses to a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that includes live music, waterfront views, and balmy breezes.
2. Carvers Steakhouse Specialties
Succulent steaks are the specialty at Carvers Steakhouse in Orange Beach, and they go the extra mile to make sure every cut is melt-in-your-mouth magnificent. All their steaks are made of high-quality American Angus beef and seared over a wood fire for full-bodied flavor. With a variety of choices from sirloins to ribeyes to porterhouses and more, you’re sure to find a delicious cut for even the most avid steak-connoisseurs.
3. Beef Tournedos at GTs on the Bay
If you think tenderness is as important as taste, you’ll love the Beef Tournedos at GTs on the Bay. These tasty twin medallions are 4oz each of quality pan-seared beef, cooked to your liking and topped with an incredible creamed spinach and mushroom demi-glace. The entire dish is settled on a plate of parmesan grits for a mouthwateringly southern steak.
4. The Voyagers Variety
If you want an eating experience, Voyagers offers superb steaks in an elegant atmosphere for fine dining full of flavor. From filets to chops to cowboy ribeyes, all of their steaks are dry-aged for a minimum of 35 days and broiled to glistening perfection. Once you’ve chosen your cut, top it with a fantastic list of add-ons like house-made sauces and crowns crafted from buttery lobster tails, crispy bacon, or juicy Gulf shrimp.
5. Filet Mignon at Fishers Upstairs
If you want fantastic flavor, reserve a spot at Fisher’s Upstairs to try executive chef Bill Briand’s fabulous filet mignon. It’s an 8oz Black Angus filet that’s grilled-to-order and topped with a beautiful brown marrow butter, then served with red potato hash and gorgeous sauteed green beans (though we recommend adding a side of crispy Brussels sprouts). Don’t forget to ask your server for the perfect wine pairing to complement your meal!
