Here’s the skinny on upcoming festivals filled with good eats in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
2021 Sweetest Chefs is an EATYALL Signature Event slated for Sept. 17-18 at The Wharf. This fun event features top pastry chefs from across the nation offering more than 20 dessert tastings along with demonstrations and opportunities to vote for your favorites in the Sweetest Chefs Awards. Bring your stretchy pants and sweet tooth.
The Annual National Shrimp Festival is scheduled for Oct. 7-10 on the Main Public Beach in Gulf Shores. This event attracts some 300,000 folks each year looking for hours of live entertainment, scrumptious food from more than 50 local and regional vendors, lots of outdoor activities (including building sand sculptures) and some 200 booths of fine art and arts and crafts vendors.
The Original German Sausage Festival will be held on Oct. 30 with free admission. In the South Baldwin Town of Elberta, this 40-year-old tradition offers entertainment for children and adults, arts and crafts, carnival rides and a full-scale midway along with a Bier Garden plus Elberta’s famous German sausage and sauerkraut. This semi-annual event has been spearheaded by Elberta’s Volunteer Fire Department since 1978. Fun fact: about 6,000 pounds of German Sausage are consumed at each festival.
