Book Talk and Signing: Let the Oppressed Go Free: The Revolutionary Generation of American Abolitionists

The Alabama Archaeological Society invites everyone to join us next Tuesday for a very special talk by Nicholas Wood, Ph.D. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.

An associate professor of history at Spring Hill College, Dr. Wood's research and teaching interests center around the issues of slavery, abolitionism, race, religion, and politics in America from the colonial era through the Civil War.

Dr. Wood will discuss his first book, Let the Oppressed Go Free: The Revolutionary Generation of American Abolitionists, reveals how tenacious activism by Quakers, African Americans, and antislavery evangelicals made abolitionism central to the American Revolution.

The book will be available for purchase at the Museum for $40 (less than the cover price).

Admission:

Free & open to the public! Refreshments will be provided.
