Trust us. You’re going to need those stretchy pants. After all, this is the 2017 World Food Championships, and nothing says food quite like 1,200 chefs and home cooks whipping up their best recipes.
Make your Gulf Shores condo or Orange Beach hotel reservations and get ready to eat your way through the biggest food fight in the world. Foodie events begin as early as Thursday, Nov. 9, but the big action kicks off on Friday. If you’re wondering where you can get the eats during the event, we’ve got the skinny. So loosen your belts and get back to the beach. Your taste buds will thank you.
VIP Lounge – It’s tough to say, but this may be the most sought-after seat at the table. With tickets for the VIP Lounge, you’ll have the ultimate foodie experience. VIP ticket holders will be treated to a bird’s-eye view of the competitors’ turn-in action and get to taste a sample straight from the competitors’ tables. In addition, they will enjoy chef demos and complimentary refreshments. The VIP Lounge will be available Friday, Nov. 10, through Sunday, Nov. 12. Tickets are available online.
Low Country Boil – For only $20, join Operation BBQ Relief on Thursday, Nov. 9, for a traditional Low Country Boil to benefit the organization. This is an all-you-can-eat affair; tickets are available online.
Tasting Village – For Friday through Sunday, get tickets to the Tasting Village for only $5. Here you can sample foods from local, regional and national food brands. Tickets are available online.
Bourb’N’Que – Get your tickets to the Southern-style Bourb’N’Que fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 10. Enjoy bourbon whiskey samples, premium pork from Compart Duroc, and recipes from esteemed food champs. VIP ticket holders will receive entry one hour early and a customized bottle of bourbon. Tickets may be purchased online: $75 for general admission and $100 for VIP.
Food Trucks – Everyone loves a great food truck, and the 2017 World Food Championships brings in the best! From Friday through Sunday, enjoy interesting eats from fun food trucks.
Around the World in 100 Bites – Tour the world through food on Saturday, Nov. 11. Chef David Skinner of Eculent will prepare iconic dishes and present them in a whimsical manner. It’ll be like nothing you’ve ever seen. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased online.
The Yacht Club Progressive Dinner Party – What’s better than dinner on a yacht? Dinner on five yachts with five food champs and five award-winning dishes, that’s what! Only 50 tickets are available for this inaugural event scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets can be purchased online for $295.
Jazz Brunch Fundraiser for USA Hospitality & Tourism Management Scholarship – Chef Katie Dixon will prepare a four-course Mediterranean heart-healthy menu with signature cocktail on Sunday, Nov. 12. The jazz brunch is $60 and the cooking demo is $20. Tickets can be purchased online.
