Perks of a Fall Vacation

in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

While many vacationers find themselves going to the beach during summer, my family enjoys going to Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan in the fall. The cooler months are fantastic times to plan a beach getaway. Don’t believe me? Here are five reasons to visit Alabama's Beaches this fall.

Reasons to Plan a Fall Beach Trip

Fewer Crowds

Fewer Crowds

When I’m planning a trip, I like to take into consideration the crowds. Alabama’s Beaches is substantially less crowded than other destinations. You’ll find fewer people on the beach, less traffic on the roads, and shorter waits at restaurants (if any). Going on vacation should be stress-free and relaxing, and not having to deal with crowds makes for a much calmer experience.

Cooler Temperatures

Cooler Temperatures

If you love the beach and all the beach activities, but are like me and prefer cooler temperatures, the off season is the perfect time to visit and take advantage of all the outdoor activities in the area. Bike along the trails in Gulf State Park, play a round of golf, explore Bon Secour, or paddle along the back bays in a kayak. Fall is also a fabulous time to dine outside, and the area boasts plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating.

Lower Rates

Lower Rates

Most vacation rentals offer lower rates during the fall and winter. You’ll also find more availability at your favorite spots due to less crowds. From beachfront condos and spacious vacation homes to boutique hotels and full service resorts, there’s a place for you. Be sure to check the deals page for lodging discounts before booking a stay!

Fall brings plenty of fun festivals and events to Alabama's Beaches. Check out cool cars at Orange Beach Freedom Fest, chow down at Shrimp Fest or the Coastal Alabama Food Truck Fest, or listen to the tunes of award-winning musicians at the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival. Ready to break a sweat? Sign up for the Brett/Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon or Coastal Half Marathon and enjoy a scenic route as you race.

Fall's sunsets on the Gulf Coast are unbeatable, and there's no better place to see them than the beach. Marvel at the sky's beauty from the shore, the balcony of your accommodation, or an outdoor restaurant. You're definitely going to want to snap a few pictures.
