Reignite Your Romance on Alabama’s Beaches This February
Love is in the air in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
While things wind down on the Alabama Gulf Coast during the winter season, there are still plenty of things to do this February. As the cool weather continues, there’s no better time to get snuggled up to your special someone.
Five Fun Things to Do in February on Alabama’s Beaches

Sunset Sightings
Yes, we recognize that “watching a sunset with your guy/girl” is a total cliché, but hear us out. On the Alabama Gulf Coast, there’s no shortage of spots to catch a sensational sunset. One of the most popular places is on the beach. Because our destination boasts relatively warm weather all year long, all you need to enjoy a February sunset on our shores is a light jacket, a few blankets, and your libation of choice.
If you’re looking for a little more adventure, we suggest booking a sunset cruise. (Guys, you’ll earn some brownie points with your lady for this one…trust us!) There are several cruise providers in the destination offering a variety of experiences. You can choose to hop on a public charter or book a private adventure. Either way, you’ll find lots of space, comfortable seating, hors d’oeuvres, and non-alcoholic beverages. Most cruise providers allow you to bring other drinks, snacks, and small coolers on-board as well.
For those who prefer to stay in, many of our waterfront lodging properties offer fantastic sunset views from your balcony. Pour yourselves a glass of vino or a warm cup of tea, and watch the sun fade away from the comfort of your own space.
Outdoor Activities
Whether you’re a couple that loves active adventures or just need a change of scenery for a few hours, there’s an abundance of outdoor activities to try on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Take a jaunt along the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail. Consisting of 26 trails that make up more than 28 miles of paved trails, you’ll find there is much to be explored. The trail system winds through the Gulf State Park’s 6,180 acres, showcasing all nine ecosystems that make up the park. To take on the trails more quickly, snag a couple of the park’s free bike rentals, available at several locations throughout the park. And, if you enjoy your time on these trails, consider driving over to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge houses three trails of varying lengths and terrains. An untouched coastal habitat, you’re almost guaranteed to come across some unique flora and fauna on your journey.
Another popular winter outdoor activity for couples is golfing. With 15 courses within an hour’s drive, avid golfers have the opportunity to get out on the links several times during their stay, while novice golfers can select a course or two that best fit their needs. Many of our courses were designed by golf legends such as Arnold Palmer, Jerry Pate, and Earl Stone. And several offer gorgeous views of the Gulf and other waterways.

Spa Day
There’s no shortage of ways for couples to relax when vacationing in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, but sometimes you just need to indulge in a spa day. Throughout both cities, you’ll find several spa and massage facilities to choose from. Many offer both solo and couples’ massages, so you can choose whether you need some R&R together or apart. You can also find services such as mani/pedis and facials.
Flip-Flop Fine Dining
Treat your partner to a fancy meal that doesn’t require high heels or leather loafers. On the Alabama Gulf Coast, we specialize in flip-flop fine dining. And, don’t be fooled by our casual attire because our local chefs know how to whip up five-star meals you’ve never even imagined. Of course, fresh Gulf seafood is the queen of the Gulf Coast. From Royal Red shrimp and boutique oysters on the half-shell to grilled grouper and other seasonal delights, you’ll find all of these dishes and more on menus all across the island. Many restaurants also serve dry-aged steaks, quail, chicken, and other meats for those who prefer meatier meals.
Mardi Gras Madness
On the Gulf Coast, one of the most highly anticipated holidays of the year is Mardi Gras. This year the big day is February 16. This holiday is widely celebrated across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. In our two cities, we honor the day with parades on the road and in the water, as well as with parties and other gatherings at local restaurants and bars. We recognize, though, that this year could look a lot different. So if you plan to visit for Mardi Gras, please refer to our website for updates on parades and other events.
Experience all there is to see and do with the one you love the most this February on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
