Chaplin Comes to Gulf Shores

Next Tuesday and Wednesday silent film star Charlie Chaplin makes an appearance in Gulf Shores! Well, the next best thing anyway. Chaplin: A Life in Concert, composed and starring David Pomeranz comes to the Erie Myer Civic Center for a two evening performances.

remarkable one-man show chronicles the life of the brilliant actor, director, writer and vaudevillian Charlie Chaplin through song and all from a grand piano. David portrays 25 characters central to Chaplin's life and takes you with him on a journey through Chaplin's many peaks and valleys.

The story begins very near the end of Chaplin's life – backstage at the Academy Awards in 1971, when Chaplin returned from exile after being branded a communist to accept an award for lifetime achievement. From there, you move backward and forward through song.

David Pomeranz is a Emmy-nominated composer and recording artist. He has sold over 40 million albums of classic American tunes internationally.

Tickets are $26 for preferred seating and $22 for good seating, and can be purchased by calling 251-968-1172. Gates open at 7:00 pm January 24 and 25 and the performance begins at 7:30. The Erie Myer Civic Center is located at 1930 W. 2nd Street, Gulf Shores, AL, 36542.
