Memorial Day weekend is the official kickoff to the summer season, and it’s packed with fun events for the whole family. Get your dancing flip flops ready for LuLuPalooza 2016 at LuLu’s in Gulf Shores. The free day of music starts at 2 p.m. on May 28 with The Sauce Boss and continues throughout the evening with the Mulligan Brothers and George Porter Jr. and His Runnin’ Pardners. Lucy Buffett will be onsite signing copies of her re-release of “LuLu’s Kitchen, A Taste of the Gulf Coast Good Life.”
Have boat, will travel? Cruise over to the Gumbo Key Boat-In Concert on June 18 in Orange Beach. This free concert is held near the Perdido Pass Bridge, with bands performing on a barge. There’s no other event like it in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Bring your floats and relax to the sounds of live music, including the Wes Loper Band, Adam Holt Band, and Lamont Landers Band.
From July 12 to 17, witness “The Greatest Show in Sportfishing” when teams bring in their prized catches for weigh-in at the 2016 Blue Marlin Grand Championship of the Gulf. Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes are up for grabs. Each day, captains, crews and spectators anxiously await the weigh-ins at The Wharf in Orange Beach.
Fun for the entire family is in store each Thursday this summer during Thursdays on Main held at The Wharf in Orange Beach. Beginning June 2 through August, street performers, face painting and the SPECTRA Light Show will keep your crew busy and entertained. Restaurants will offer happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Street music and entertainment will begin at 5 p.m.
