Back to the Beach Before Back to School
It won’t be long before the bell rings and school is back in session. But before that happens, treat the family to one last summer hoorah complete with fun, sun and even a little back-to-school shopping.
What could be better than savoring summertime and making memories on Alabama’s white-sand beaches? There will be plenty of activities to entertain the family, from toddlers to teens. Plan your back-to-school vacation to coincide with Thursdays on Main at The Wharf. Held every Thursday, you’ll enjoy street performers, face painting, music and the SPECTRA Light Show. The light show is set to themed music and provides a fun time for the whole family. With shopping, amusements such as laser tag, and Thursdays on Main, you could spend an entire day at The Wharf.
Tweens, teens, and mom and dad may enjoy chart-topping tunes like “Stressed Out” and “Ride” during the Twenty One Pilots Emotional Roadshow at The Amphitheater at The Wharf on Aug. 5. Grammy award-winning Train with guest Andy Grammer will perform on Aug. 12 with billboard hits that include “Hey, Soul Sister” and “Drops of Jupiter.” It’s the perfect way to kick off the school year on the right note.
Find the excitement at the Commemoration of the Battle of Mobile Bay and Siege of Fort Morganon Aug. 6. Sure, it’s educational, but why not sneak a little edu-tainment into your back-to-school beach vacation? The kids won’t even notice! Uniformed interpreters will bring the fort to life with artillery demonstrations and other drills.
