A Fun Run Can Be a Walk in the Park

Don’t avoid signing up for runs on the Alabama Gulf Coast if walking is more your speed.

Just because you’re not in long-distance-running shape doesn’t mean you can’t participate. A fast or slow pace will still get you to the finish line.

What’s important is that you’ll be getting out for some fresh air and exercise, not to mention having some fun! The Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission has an upcoming event that welcomes all fitness levels.

The 2019 The SHARK Adventure Run will begin bright and early at Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar on July 4 at 7 a.m. The racers will run 2 miles on road surface followed by 2.5 miles on beach sand.

All adventure runners will wear a “bait belt” while trying to outmaneuver the SHARKS on the beach, who will be attempting to take their flags. Each participant is given the opportunity to recover the stolen flags. Participants must have flags intact when crossing the finish line to order to be eligible for awards. Enjoy fun at the Flora-Bama afterward.
