Best Happenings on Alabama’s Beaches in October

Will you be traveling south in October for a Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission event? With pleasant fall weather, it’s simply a terrific time of year to visit the white-sand beaches. And you’ll score a front-row seat on the serene beach. In addition to all the thrills of the tournaments and championships, you’ll find ample action off the field or court at one of the events happening during this cooler month. After the big game, plan on changing out of your athletic socks and throw on some lederhosen! On October 1, the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest is happening from 1-5 p.m. at Bronze sponsor Luna’s Eat & Drink.

More than 300,000 people will head to Gulf Shores for the 46th Annual National Shrimp Festival during October 12-15. You’ll find scrumptious Gulf seafood, more than 80 hours of musical entertainment, almost 200 booths of fine art and arts & crafts vendors, and 50+ local and regional food vendors.

The 2017 Sanddollar Showcase is swinging to the fields of the Gulf Shores Sportsplex October 13-15. Admire the softball skills of these elite college athletes.

Lace up your running shoes for the 2017 Shrimp Festival 10K and 5K Run on October 14. This popular race is an officially sanctioned event of the 46th Annual National Shrimp Festival. The 10K race begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:20 a.m. Runners and walkers should meet at the starting line at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

Kick off with talented athletes at the 2017 SEC Women’s Soccer Championship on the fields of the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Ten teams will compete to be crowned the SEC Women’s Soccer Champions. The battle begins Sunday, October 29 and concludes on Sunday, November 5. The final game play is scheduled for Sunday, November 5 at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live. Don’t miss the action!
