From wandering scenic nature trails to sampling the finest local cuisine, a weekend getaway with the husband in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan is one of the best vacation destinations for a romantic couple's getaway.

Breakfast

Starting the day off on a good breakfast is key, especially when it comes from Brick and Spoon, an amazing brunch restaurant in Orange Beach. Bananas in Pajamas is a personal favorite, while creating a unique Bloody Mary concoction is an experience not to be missed.

The Clay Studio

One of the reasons Alabama's Beaches is such an incredible destination is there are many things to do that perhaps you wouldn’t normally think about. Head over to The Clay Studio at the Coastal Arts Center for a “hands-on” experience creating a masterpiece and learning from some of the best teachers on the Gulf coast. The Clay Studio offers a fun opportunity for couples to master the art of creative design using clay and also admire some of the unique works of art on display inside the studio.

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail

The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail is a great way for couples to enjoy the best natural environment in the area. Hop on a bike rental at Beach Bike Rentals or put on your favorite walking shoes to appreciate nature’s finest species that flourish in Gulf State Park. Distinctive ecosystems can be seen throughout the trails, while this is the perfect way to burn a few calories after indulging in the delicious cuisine.

Dinner Cruise

We then enjoy an evening onboard the Perdido Queen Dinner Cruise in nearby Mobile. What better way to experience the epic sunset than onboard a boat! A delicious buffet offering local cuisine is prepared for those onboard, while live entertainment is always available to set the mood and admire the breathtaking scenery of the bay.

Ice Cream

If the bread pudding onboard isn’t enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, head over to Matt’s Homemade Alabama Ice Cream for some of the best flavors in the area. This local ice cream shop serves sundaes, banana splits, shakes, and over 60 ice creams.

Morning Sunrise

While the first day was all about staying active and enjoying the sights and sounds of Alabama's Beaches, the second half of a weekend getaway is about relaxation. Wake up early to enjoy a morning stroll along the 32 miles of pristine, white-sand beaches and admire the gorgeous sunrise, which is equally impressive as the sunset the night before. Trust us when we say, it’s worth the effort to wake up early!

Brunch

Spend some time relaxing on the beach or by the pool before heading over to the infamous Ruby Slipper Café for a late brunch. If you love traditional southern fare, The Ruby Slipper Cafe will certainly deliver above your expectations. Enjoy the best eggs benedict on the beach among many other delicious options.

Historic Fort Morgan

Following a morning soaking in the sun, why not spend the afternoon learning all about the rich history along this stretch of the Alabama Gulf Coast by heading over to Historic Fort Morgan to enjoy a self-guided tour of this bastion fort in the mouth of Mobile Bay. This Civil War masonry fort dates back more than 150 years and is full of history worth exploring.

Dinner

Dinner at Luna’s Eat & Drink is perhaps the best way to end your action-packed weekend on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Luna’s expansive menu is filled with Southern favorites and coastal cuisine like shrimp and grits, fried crab claws, and seafood po'boys. Get your fill of comfort food with a twist and craft beers.
