This iconic Gulf Shores restaurant sits at the end of a boardwalk and offers diners fantastic views of the Gulf from both inside and out. A walk-up bar sits on the expansive outdoor deck for beachgoers to grab frozen drinks and coastal cocktails and sip as they watch the waves.

What to Order: Sea-N-Suds has perfected its gumbo, using a recipe passed down over 200 years.

Tip: Grab a table right along the edge of the outdoor deck for an unobstructed view of the waves breaking directly beneath the boardwalk structure.

Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar

Outdoor Seating: Gulf-facing picnic tables line the back of the bar, offering guests a relaxing outdoor space to slurp oysters and sip cold drinks.

Sitting on the Florida/Alabama line, Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar is an iconic coastal institution. While most patrons of Flora-Bama visit for the bushwackers and live music, this roadhouse also serves fresh seafood right on the shoreline. Guests can walk right up to the counter and order burgers, shrimp tacos, smoked tuna dip, and of course, oysters. Flora-Bama is open to all ages before 6 pm.

What to Order: While all the restaurants’ oysters are fabulous, Flora-Bama’s raw oysters are the perfect cold snack for a warm beach day.

Local Tip: Flora-Bama has live music every day of the year, so be sure to stick around and listen to local musicians as you dine.

The Hangout

Outdoor Seating: The Hangout offers open-air indoor seating as well as a large courtyard with picnic tables, high-top tables, and Adirondack chairs. 

The Hangout is a popular restaurant located at Gulf Place Public Beach that offers nonstop entertainment. Steps from the sand, it features courtyard games, hourly foam parties, dance parties, and plenty of family-friendly activities. The crowd-pleasing menu features staples like seafood boils, burgers, fresh catches, shareable appetizers, and po’boys. Beachgoers at Gulf Place can easily walk up to the restaurant from the shore.

What to Order: The double-patty Lifeguard Burger is a fan favorite and even comes with a plastic whistle.

Local Tip: Keep an eye out for the regularly scheduled foam parties in the central sand courtyard, which are an absolute highlight for kids looking to burn off energy.

Established long before the Chappel Roan hit, the Pink Pony Pub is a staple beach restaurant known for its bubblegum pink building and mouthwatering frozen cocktails. Nestled on East Gulf Place Beach, the world-famous restaurant and bar is perfect for grabbing a delicious bite without ever leaving the sand. The elevated beachfront deck provides premium people-watching views and front-row seats to the Gulf.

What to Order: Pink Pony offers fantastic fried seafood baskets and seafood specials, but its massive nachos are a favorite among patrons.

Coastal Orange Beach

Outdoor Seating: Coastal Beachfront Bar offers open-air and outdoor lawn dining. Coastal Restaurant has open-air indoor dining and outdoor seating.

As the only place to eat on the beach in Orange Beach, Coastal is an impressive indoor-outdoor venue with a casual beachfront bar and a stunning open-air restaurant, each with its own menu featuring fresh catches and local dishes. Coastal has a relaxing grassy lawn with tables and couches for diners to enjoy live music from the Gulf-front stage. Coastal is perched in the sand near Cotton Bayou beach access, making it a great spot to stop by while spending the day on the shore.

What to Order: Coastal’s house-made pimento cheese and tuna poke nachos are two tantalizing appetizers to try, and are worthy of being a meal themselves.

Local Tip: Check out the expansive on-site retail shop for local beach gear or souvenirs if there's a wait for an outdoor table.

Upscale Beachfront Dining

Outdoor Seating: Perch has a spacious outdoor porch overlooking the Gulf and situated on the second floor.

Perch is a fine-dining beach restaurant in Gulf Shores, located on the second-story terrace at The Lodge. The outdoor porch provides unobstructed panoramic views of protected coastal dunes, open Gulf waters, and the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier. The refined menu features locally sourced seafood, artisanal small plates, unique wines, and handcrafted cocktails. Perch is only open for dinner.

What to Order: Daily catches are a must-try on Alabama’s Beaches. And the seared Gulf fish at Perch features a fresh catch served with corn and crab chowder, lardons, and fingerling potatoes.

Local Tip: Arrive roughly thirty minutes before the scheduled local sunset to secure a spot right next to the modern outdoor fire pits on the terrace deck.

Foodcraft sits on the sand just below Perch at The Lodge. This smart, casual spot boasts floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass windows and a roomy outdoor patio, so diners can admire the beach no matter where they are sitting. Foodcraft is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, and offers a variety of enticing dishes, including grouper sandwiches, shrimp burgers, and seared scallops, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. 

What to Order: In addition to its delicious cuisine, Foodcraft boasts a jaw-dropping bloody mary bar with every fixings imaginable, perfect for a beachfront cocktail.
