For music mavens, there’s nothing quite like the Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival Nov. 4-14. Venues along the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast welcome nearly 200 nationally acclaimed songwriters from across the country for this event. Festival attendees enjoy an up-close and personal concert experience and are often able to learn the stories behind the songs as told by the original author.
Then, on Nov. 5 and 6, the NAS Pensacola Blue Angels will close out their flying season. You can catch their Homecoming Air Show for free at 10 a.m. on both days. Come by car or by boat and see why people look up at the sky in awe every time these guys fly.
You won’t want to miss the mouthwatering Bama-Q SCA Cook-Off Series finale on Nov. 19-21. The Steak Cook-Off Association sanctions over 400 steak cook-offs each year, and this November’s event is at Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar.
Share your gratitude and your best turkey day dish at Flora-Bama’s Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner! Flora-Bama will provide Turkey and ham, and they encourage patrons to bring a covered side dish. So many wonderful meals will be shared, you’re bound to be stuffed after this event!
After you indulge in Thanksgiving dinner, burn those calories in the Coastal Half Marathon, 5K and One-Mile Fun Run. Happening the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, this is a fantastic way to run off all the turkey and sweet potato pie you consumed throughout the week! Not to mention, the race takes you through the scenic, peaceful and beautiful trails in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Gulf State Park.
