Beach Plastic Exploration and Movie

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Service are co-hosting an event for those interested to learn about the fate of plastics in our environment.

We’ll be learning about and conducting “nurdle patrols” to find and document plastics on our beaches and adding our data to theĀ nurdle data map.

There will be informational tables from MSU Extension Agents about how they study microplastics, how microplastics impact the marine environment, and how you can reduce your everyday use of plastic.

Expert-led Nurdle Patrols will be held at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Showings of the movie “The Smog of the Sea” will be at 11:15 am and 1:15 pm.

Light refreshments will be served during the movie.
