The Greatest Show in Sport Fishing
Dubbed “The Greatest Show in Sport Fishing,” the Blue Marlin Grand Championship is one of the biggest fishing tournaments along the Alabama Gulf Coast. Anglers from across the region venture into the Gulf each July in search of massive billfish to bring back to The Wharf Marina. This highly anticipated competition is a part of the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship Series.

As they sail across the Gulf, anglers catch a variety of big game species. Categories include blue marlin, tuna, dolphinfish, and wahoo. Awards are given to the anglers, captains, and vessels who bring in the catch weighing the most in each species category.

The fishing festivities begin on Tuesday evening with a private party just for the crew. Check-ins and registration begin on Wednesday, followed by a kick-off party and silent auction at 6 pm. On Thursday morning, the boats depart from The Wharf Marina and head to Perdido Pass, where the fishing commences at 10 am with a shotgun start. Spectators are welcome to watch these giant boats leave from both The Wharf and Perdido Pass. Alabama Point and the Perdido Pass Seawall are prime, public viewing spots for the shotgun start.

The fun heats up on Friday night as weigh-ins take place at The Wharf from 5-7 pm. Boats continue to make their way back to Orange Beach on Saturday, with weigh-ins continuing from 5-8 pm. Anyone is invited to watch the weigh-ins as the night includes live announcements, exclusive merchandise, vendor booths, and music. Grab a drink at a local bar or take a seat at a nearby restaurant at The Wharf, so you can marvel at the impressive catches as they are displayed at Marlin Circle.
