
Labor Day Itinerary for Families
School’s back in session but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Say farewell to summer with us on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Easy to get to, family-friendly and with lots of things to do, your family will be begging to come back next Labor Day, too!
Day 1

Breakfast
Locals rejoiced when the Baldwin County favorite, Lickin’ Good Donuts, opened a location in Gulf Shores. This is a fantastic breakfast spot for families because the menu offers a plethora of options including fresh donuts with a variety of toppings (both savory and sweet) and tasty kolaches.

Morning
Don’t make the kids wait any longer….get to the beach! Pack your towels, sunblock, beach toys and a snacks for some fun in the sun on our sugar-white sand beaches. We also suggest topping by Sarah’s Homemade, Publix or Rouses to grab a cold lunch to pack in the cooler so your family has plenty of time to play on the beach.

Afternoon
After spending a few hours on the beach, your family will appreciate some time spent indoors. The AMC Classic Theatre at The Wharf in Orange Beach. They are always showing the latest and greatest kid-friendly movies.

Evening
While you’re at The Wharf, stick around for dinner and the nightly SPECTRA Light Show. There are several restaurants in the entertainment district with options that span from seafood to pizza. And, if the kids aren’t too tired, The Wharf has a popular mini golf course and Ferris wheel that are both worth experiencing!
Day 2

Day 2
Step back in time to the 1950s at Sunliner Diner in Gulf Shores. This retro-inspired eateryserves breakfast all day. From scrambled eggs and chicken and waffles to pancakes and eggs benedict, your kids will leave Sunliner Diner very full and very happy. And, hey, you’re on vacation…treat them to a breakfast milkshake while you’re at it!

Morning
Book a short inshore or offshore fishing excursion. With dozens of providers in the area, you can easily find the perfect charter fishing experience for you and your family. Our charters offer trips of varying lengths for both private and public groups and are always happy to help beginners.

Lunch
Situated just off the beach in Gulf Shores, The Hangout is one of the more popular family-friendly restaurants in the destination. You and your kids can enjoy beach access, a courtyard full of games, hourly dance parties, a foam pit and more all while eating a delicious lunch.

Afternoon
Fit some edutainment into your vacation at Fort Morgan State Historic Site. This Third System masonry fort, built in the early to mid-1800s, played a significant role in the Battle of Mobile Bay.Walk the grounds on your own or book a tour with the fort historian.

Dinner
If you were able to hook a few fish to bring home for dinner and want a quiet night in, check outsome of these local recipes for inspiration. There are also several restaurants in the destination that have hook n’ cook options. Bring in your fish and the chef will cook your catch.
Day 3

Begin your final day of vacation at Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach. They offer a casual, family- friendly dining experience with a large menu that has something for everyone. Pro tip: sit out on the deck overlooking Cotton Bayou and the Perdido Pass Bridge.

Morning
Are you a family of adrenaline junkies? Experience the destination from a different angle at learn a lot about the coastal wetlands in the area while experiencing unforgettable views. Hummingbird Ziplines at The Wharf. This two-hour guided tour covers over 6,000 feet.

Lunch
No family vacation on Alabama’s beaches is complete without a stop at the famous LuLu’s in Gulf Shores. Not only do they have several allergy menus making the restaurant accessible for kids with all types of dietary needs, they also have play areas, climbing ropes, an arcade and more.

Afternoon
Learn about our coastal wildlife by going on a dolphin cruise. Both entertaining and educational,these cruises are a phenomenal way to get out and explore nature on the Alabama Gulf Coast.We have many tour providers in the area and each of them has their own unique way of telling the story of Coastal Alabama.

Evening
Skip dinner and go straight for dessert at The Yard Milkshake Bar. Here they have turned milkshakes into an artform with creations that will have your kids jumping for joy. Choose from more than 28 flavors of ice cream and eight flavors of cookie dough to craft the milkshake of your dreams.
