Safe Summer Events and Activities on Alabama’s Beach

There are several socially-distanced events and many other things to do this June.

Summer is officially here! Below are several safe, social-distance-friendly events you can experience during the month of June.

Things to Do in June

Young boy cleaning trash off the beach

Clean Up the Coastline

It all started when a young local boy named Oliver developed a passion for picking trash up off the beach to save our local marine life. Clean Horizons, a non-profit launched by his parents, aims to help protect the Gulf Coast and keep it in its pristine condition. On June 26, you can be a part of their mission by participating in Litter Rodeo, a Fort Morgan beach cleanup…with a twist! This is a fantastic volunteer activity for families, athletes and other groups while vacationing along our shores.

Annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo in Orange Beach, AL

Gulf Coast Fishing Tournaments

Participating in or attending a weigh-in at a fishing tournament is a great way to immerse yourself in the culture of Alabama’s beaches while also staying safe.  Below are two big fishing events happening this June.

  • Annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo: On June 11-13, the ‘Funnest’ Fishing Tournament on the Gulf Coast is happening at the Flora-Bama in Orange Beach. What’s great about this tournament, is that they offer a variety of categories including catfish, billfish and everything in-between. And, in true Flora-Bama style, accompanying the tournament will be a three-day outdoor beach party. Come for the fishing, the weigh-ins or the party.
  • The Invitational: The Wharf in Orange Beach is thrilled to host the newest tournament to hit the Gulf Coast June 16-19. Thirty-two teams will aim to catch the biggest marlin in the one of the highest guaranteed payouts of any tournament on the Gulf of Mexico.

The Return of Live Music

Something many of us missed in 2020 was live music. Fortunately, the return of live music has begun on the Alabama Gulf Coast, but in a safe way. On June 18 and 19, The Amphitheatre at The Wharf welcomes back the CSpire Concert Series with Jon Pardi and special guest Larry Fleet. Pardi is an American country music singer and songwriter based out of Nashville. To ensure your health and wellbeing, there will be a limited number of socially-distanced tickets available.

Outside of events, there are plenty of other outdoor adventures and things to do when vacationing in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach this June.
