Vessels Big and Small on Display at The Wharf Boat Show

Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

When it comes to the upcoming Wharf Boat and Yacht Show, the numbers don’t lie. The show has become the premier event on the Alabama Gulf Coast with an inventory of boats on display surpassing $150 million and sales of more than $20 million.

The Wharf Boat Show at The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL

The 2018 show is scheduled March 22-25 at The Wharf in Orange Beach. On Thursday, March 22, an invitation-only VIP event called “Stars Over Alabama” is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Check with your local boat or yacht dealer for VIP tickets.

General admission starts on Friday with Locals Day. Ladies Day is set for Saturday, March 24. Both Friday and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday, March 25, Military Appreciation Day is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 daily. Visitors with a local ID will be able to purchase a $7 ticket on Friday. Military personnel, both active and retired, can purchase a $7 ticket on Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

The Wharf has 135 boat slips available for the exhibitors. Eight yacht dealers will have vessels up to 75 feet in length on display. Those dealers include Galati Yacht Sales, Marine Group Emerald Coast, MarineMax Orange Beach, MarineMax Pensacola, United Yacht Sales, Edgewater Yacht Sales, Great Southern Yacht and Gulf Coast Yacht Group.

Of course, if you’re looking for a smaller boat, you’ll find plenty to choose from at The Wharf Show from small skiffs with tiller outboards to some of the most extensively rigged inshore boats available. Exhibitors will have more than 600 trailerable boats on display.

And The Wharf is the place where deals are made with manufacturer incentives and great prices.

If you just need to outfit your current boat, you can browse marine electronics, fishing tackle, marine engines for repowering options and other outdoor equipment.

Of course, boat and yacht displays are only part of the show. The popular Fighting Chair Competition will take place again this year with the proceeds going directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For a $10 donation, potential anglers can challenge friends to friendly competition, simulating big game fishing in Release Marine offshore fighting chairs. The Fighting Chair Competition in the BridgeWalk area is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Also on the BridgeWalk event stage, a variety of events are planned, including kids art classes from marine artist Larry Rackley. On Ladies Day, a fashion show featuring Lucca, Seaside Shoes & Swim and Khloe & Kate is scheduled. Ladies can also enter drawings for a variety of gift packages. Live music and instructional seminars are also on the schedule daily.

After you’ve had a chance to check out all the boats, yachts and marine equipment, The Wharf has a variety of restaurants and retail shopping. The Wharf offers free covered parking and complimentary golf cart shuttle service during the event.

With the beautiful Gulf Coast weather, great deals and resort accommodations, The Wharf will be the place to be in March.
