Travel Writers Share Favorite Ways to Spend Fall at the Beach.

The temperatures are mild, the sunsets are breathtaking, the crowds have dispersed…it truly is a great time to keep on summering on Alabama’s beaches. But, is there anything to DO during the fall? The answer is a resounding “yes!” You can enjoy many of the same, great activities and attractions in the fall that you can in the summer. We recently asked some travel writers what their favorite fall beach activities are. Read on to learn what those are!
“Fall is one of the best times to visit the beach! The water is still warm from the summer months and there are far less people there then in the busy summer season. Get out your beach chair, bring out the sand toys and enjoy the warm sun while you have the beach to yourself. It also makes it a great time of year to play beach volleyball or sand soccer and to go on a nice jog or walk along the beach without being super hot. Enjoy!”

"We love staying at the beach during the fall, especially on the end where the beach is less populated in Fort Morgan. Mid-September to early October is the perfect time to get away. All the kids are back in school and everyone is back to business, which means you can still enjoy everything the beach has to offer. For the last 3 years, it has seemed like we had our very own personal stretch of beach, not to mention the great pricing we found on our rented beach house. The Barefoot Property from Harris Properties Management is always a favorite of ours."

“My family loves to visit the beach in the fall because we can act like locals! We can hang out on the beaches enjoying slightly cooler temperatures without crowds of folks lying next to us, and we can scoot into favorite restaurants with little to no wait. We can also enjoy awesome specials on activities like sunset sails, parasailing and standup paddle boards! Oh, and I can’t leave out the fantastic festivals that take place in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach during the fall from The Wharf Uncorked Food and Wine Festival benefiting Make-a-Wish Alabama to the National Shrimp Festival and World Food Championships! We just think the beach is at its best in the fall!”

“While most travelers flock to beaches in the summer, I think fall might be the best time to visit. Not only is it less crowded during this season, but it gives you a chance to discover new attractions that you might have missed when going in the summer. You can still lounge on the beach as long as the weather is good, but have a backup plan for days when it rains. You could try new restaurants or enjoy indoor attractions. As someone that frequently visits beaches in the fall, trust me when I say that you’ll have just as much fun! After all, there’s never a bad time to go to the beach!”
