Visitors Share Favorite Beach Traditions
Family vacation traditions are the little things that make vacations memorable.
Whether it's an early morning walk at sunrise with the kids or casting a line from the Gulf State Park pier, traditions are something families look forward to year after year. They're the talk of dinner conversations, they make their way into the “This Was My Summer” presentations when school is back in session, and they get carried on to the next generation of beach vacationers.
Our fans shared some of their favorite vacation traditions with us. Check them out and you may find some to make into a new beach tradition for your family.
“My mom is from Mobile, Ala. so I have been going to the beach every year. I’m 37 now with two boys of my own and we are still doing it. I would say crabbing the old school way. Our tradition in Gulf Shores is definitely The Hangout!” – Michelle Bishop Randol
“Just soaking up the sun and walking on the beach.” – Sheryl Torrey Peterfi
“We go to our favorite restaurants in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, but especially Lambert’s in Foley. I make a visit to the outlets first, then eat lunch at Lambert’s about the middle of the week. Anyone raised on country food will LOVE that place like I do; best fried chicken wings anywhere.” – Pamela Moore.
“Chasing sand crabs at night!” – Kelly Silva
“I love going to Doc’s Seafood. The oysters are awesome!” – Annette Oldham
