Where to Swim on Red Flag Days
in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
While everyone wants to have fun during their vacation, safety should always be at the top of everyone's mind when at the beach. This is why checking the beach flags daily before heading out to the shores of Alabama’s Beaches is essential. Red flags indicate strong currents, and getting in the water is discouraged. On double red flags days, the Gulf is closed to the public, and it is illegal to enter the water. If you see these flags, don't put away your swimsuit just yet! The Gulf may be off-limits, but there are still fantastic places to swim in Gulf Shores and Orange, offering plenty of water fun and relaxation. You can still swim on red flag and double red flag days at these spots.

Waterville USA
Waterville USA is a Gulf Shores staple and provides fun for everyone in the family. Fly down waterslides, make waves in the wave pool, or splash around in the water playground. If you prefer to stay dry, head inside to the arcade, where you'll find a golf simulator, bowling, and plenty of games to keep you entertained.

The Track
If water parks aren’t your thing, there are other ways you can cool off when you’re not at the beach. The Track in Gulf Shores offers several go-kart tracks, amusement rides, arcades and Blaster Boats. The water bumper boats are a fun way to battle your friends and family with water blaster guns for a little smash and splash!

Tropic Falls Waterpark: Indoor Water Fun
Rain or shine, Tropic Falls is ideal for making a big splash. This thrilling indoor waterpark is covered, so it remains open even on rainy days. You can float down the lazy river or slip and slide down the water rollercoasters. The park also has a massive wave pool, surf simulator, and cabanas outside, which are ideal for working on your tan on sunny days.

Little Lagoon: Calm Waters & Family-Friendly
Just north of the Gulf on the Gulf Shores sits Little Lagoon. The lagoon connects to the Gulf, but the water is shallower and typically much calmer than the Gulf of Mexico. Guests can access Little Lagoon at Lagoon Pass Park, which has parking, restrooms, and outdoor showers. This point provides access to the Gulf, but we ask that you remain on the north side on red flag and double red flag days.

Surf Style Splash Pad: Fun & Shopping Combined
Little ones will have a blast playing in the splash pad at Surf Style 202 in Orange Beach. This store offers a fun, beachy atmosphere in addition to its swimwear, beach gear, and coastal apparel. A splash pad sits in front of the shop and is free for customers. Parents can shop and even grab a drink from the fridge while the kids splash away. Keep in mind that the splash pad is open seasonally and is closed on days with severe weather.

Enjoy a Pool Day at Your Accommodation
If your accommodation has a pool, dedicate the day to perfecting your cannonball or lounging near the edge with a good book. Be sure to follow any pool rules established by your accommodation, and do not get in during severe weather.
