My home is in Iowa, and I have found that Alabama’s beaches offer culture unlike anywhere else.
Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway provides history and beauty in a creative way. Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines offer unique experiences that you will only find along the Alabama coastline. The staff is very friendly and you will go away with all of your questions answered. Their knowledge will blow you away, as they truly want visitors to have a memorable experience. When you visit these two forts, be sure to make note of the views of the water. You may have one of the best photo opportunities of your vacation.
Did you know that you can learn to blow hot glass along the Alabama coastline? The Hot Shop is one of the best cultural experiences I have had in all of my travels. I found it relaxing, entertaining, educational and fun. Where else can you find all of those things in one experience? In my traveling world, I have not found many. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes so you can participate in your blown-glass creation.
Dining along Alabama’s beaches is always interesting and fun. Where else can a person dine and return to the same area in a year and be recognized by their waitress? This recently happened to me on one of my visits to a Gulf Shores and Orange Beach restaurant. It was as though we had seen each other over the course of the past year and picked up a conversation where we left off.
I love that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach offer a welcoming atmosphere, year after year. One thing I have learned in all of my travels is that the locals know. When a local recommends a dive for my next meal, they will be correct. Ask the locals along the Alabama coastline and they will steer you in the right direction.
