Craft Beer Trail
Quench your thirst for beach days and brew on the Alabama beaches Craft Beer Trail. No matter your taste for handcrafted beer, whether you prefer pale ale or a stout, you'll find your brew in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
Big Beach Brewing Company
When you're on a craft beer mission, you can't visit Gulf Shores without a stop at Big Beach Brewing Company
. The whole place invites you to come and sit a spell around the bar, around the fireplace or on the upper deck. (Insider Tip! The upper deck is the perfect spot to sip your selection and enjoy the Gulf coast sunset.) The laidback atmosphere, open-air taproom and friendly barkeeps are what craft beer is all about.
What do owners Jim and Julie Shamburger brew? Simple, they brew what they like! Small Town Brown Ale is a popular choice and is named after Gulf Shores. The caramel-centric brown ale has a nutty sweetness with hints of toffee and chocolate. The Ale of Two Cities is a traditionally brewed Scottish heavy. If you're not a fan of hop flavor, this is the brew for you. It has a clean, malty sweetness with esters of dark stone fruit and a slight smoky flavor. You'll find plenty of other original Big Beach Brewing Company selections, as well as house-made lemonade. Food service isn't available at the brewery, but the Shamburgers invite you to call in delivery from your favorite Gulf Shores and Orange Beach restaurants.
Luna's Eat & Drink
Luna's Eat & Drink
in Orange Beach may have one of the largest selections of craft beer at the beach! Pull up a chair to the bar and feast your eyes on a chalkboard menu featuring more than 30 craft beer options. Luna's carries a variety of local and regional brews, including I Drink Therefore I Amber from the nearby Fairhope Brewing Company. Hailing from Hunstville, Alabama's Straight to Ale brewery is Unobtanium, an Old Ale aged in Buffalo Trace whiskey barrels. You'll find a great selection of Alabama-brewed craft beer at Luna's. Or, as the Straight to Ale brewery says, "Southern Born, Southern Brewed."
Can't decide which brew is for you? No problem. Order a flight and try three or five different types. Pair them with Luna's Beer Cheese Dip and you've got a match made in hops heaven. This creamy dip is a blend of Swiss, cheddar and dark beer and is served with soft pretzel bites.
Flipdaddy's Brilliant Burgers & Craft Beer Bar
Nothing goes together quite like burgers and beer and when you want to try craft beer from breweries around the country (and even world), you stop at Flipdaddy's Brilliant Burgers & Craft Beer Bar
in Orange Beach. The West Sixth Brewing Company has a tap here where the Lemongrass Wheat Ale flows. With its home in Lexington, Kentucky, this unfiltered wheat drinks like a hefe, but is influenced by six pounds of fresh lemongrass when brewed. New Holland Brewing Company's Sundog Amber is also on tap. This Michigan amber ale is the perfect pairing for burgers with caramelized onions and hearty cheeses.
